I would have a really hard time if I was in your friend's shoes.  I wouldn't want to stand in front of my friends, family and God knowing that there is someone who opposes my marriage standing right next to my husband-to-be.  I guess it depends on your friend and her FI's personalities as to how they want to deal w/ it.  You've indicated that the FI doesn't like confrontation... however, I think that he really needs to take a stand for the relationship and find out what his BM's reservations are about it.  If it's a simple misunderstanding, it'll get cleared up.  If it's something more serious, then it should be brought up so that some sort of resolution can be found.

I think what's most important, though, is that your friend feels secure in her FI's love for her and vice versa.  This comment that she overheard has undermined that, and I think they need to do whatever is necessary to make things right again.  I'm sure it won't be easy, but worth it in the long run.  Wish her luck for me!

Thank you everyone for your help, again.

You all seemed to be telling me what my gut told me. I just didn't want to be out of line and/or turn it into a worse situation by giving the wrong advice.

Isn't it funny how a friend or family member's disapproval doesn't can make you question something in your relationship so quickly. Sometimes they are blessings and sometimes a curse.

That is a really good point - I wasn't really thinking of it in the context of the wedding, just the situation in general.

Wish her the best of luck!

I agree with Shmoopsie. Perhaps the BM might just be jealous he's losing his best friend? Men are not always the most mature after all . It could be that he wouldn't like any girl the FI ended up with. I was in a situation where my ex's best friend didn't really like me either, but we both just acknoweldged we'd have to share the guy. Now he's got him all to himself, alone, and I am getting married. hahah! (I'm sorry, that's evil ).

She might just have to say "oh well! It obviously hasn't affected our relationship so screw 'em!"

That's a good point. There is only so much a person can do. I know that they go on camping trips alot with this big friend group and she probably doesn't want to have that tension from now on. I bet it's just going to be weird no matter what.

So what happened with this situation? Has the wedding happened yet? Has it
all been resolved?
