FH and i went to san francisco this past weekend for his brother's wedding. i was so impressed by how much the bride and groom DIDN'T have to do the day before their wedding because they had taken care of it the previous week. all the wedding talk though had me worked up and i ended up having another wedding nightmare the day before the wedding. this time i had a dream that i showed up to my wedding in the wrong dress. it was like bright red. yikes! how dumb am i in my dreams? obviously dumb enough to not look in the mirror
. wow that was crazy though.
so the rehearsal was on friday night. it was very chaotic. it wasn't even my wedding and i was stressing out. the quote of the night was from the bride, 'i don't know where people are supposed to stand, i've never planned a fricken wedding before!!!!'
oh dear god. i am so getting a wedding coordinator!!! she did have one but hers was stuck in traffic and didn't get there until the last 15 minutes of the rehearsal which by that time, was pointless. poor bride.
the RD was cool though. we went to this mexican restaurant and the food was good. i was very good and did not eat any chips, even though people kept offering me them because i told them i wasn't gonna have any. bastards.
so on saturday was the actual wedding. it was a full catholic mass ceremony. i felt so bad for the bride because when it was her turn to walk in, she was accompanied by her father and her SCREAMING toddler! omg! i woulda totally died! you could tell she was pissed off. shoot, i would be too. other than that, it was nice. there were some small little snafus but none as bad as that entrance.
FH went with the bridal party since he was one of two best men. i took his parents over to the reception and hung out with FH's sister, husband, and 3 kids. i was very impressed by the decoration of the reception hall. very pretty. i also liked the bridal party flowers. the food was really good too. i didn't eat any carbs but i sure as hell ate a lot of everything else. oops! hehe.
well my favorite part of the evening was FH's best man speech. it was kinda funny because there were two best men, 1 maid of honor and 1 matron of honor. so the dj said they were gonna do their toasts, boy girl, boy girl. now when i think of 'toast' at a wedding, i automatically think of toast AND speech. apparently, not FH. so he went first and did his toast which was really short, which i wasn't too surprised over because he likes to keep things simple. but then everyone went after him and there were the speeches/toast. so then FH ran up to the dj and told him that he thought they were different and wanted to do his real speech!
omg. 10 seconds into his speech and i was already crying. it was real touching and i am tearing up now just thinking about it. basically he was saying how when his brother was born, he was really excited about having a younger brother (they are 7 yrs apart). and how they always played together. but then as they got older, they grew apart and weren't even brothers anymore. it was like they were strangers. but then when his brother met his future bride, him and FH started getting close again. it was really the cutest thing. FH's brother got up from the head table and ran to FH and they were all hugging and crying then FH's sister ran up there too. it truly was a kodak moment.
we danced a lot that night too. that was fun. it was cute because FH also danced with his mom, the cha cha. it was nice seeing the whole family interact with each other. it made me real happy and warm inside.
what got me was that the bride and groom got pretty drunk but by the end of the night seemed ok, but not totally sober. the groom said to me, 'man i am sooo tired!' i mean he seriously looked about ready to pass out. whoa, what about the whole wedding night consumation thing! so much pressure for one day! anyway i had a great time. and FH looked very handsome in his tux!!!
yesterday i went back to the paper souce in the city and got my envelopes. i was also going to buy the flat cards but am holding off on them. i just had to get the envelopes though. they are so cute!!!
