Hey Courtney,
All your wedding activities sound like a lot of fun!  I think if I was a guest I would definitely be interested in both of those.  Are they going to be on two separate days?  I want to plan things for out OOT guests too, but I have a lot of time.  Are you also going to plan a zoo outing?

Congrats on those cheap plane tix!  Southwest?  Prices have gone up so much!  I used to be able to do a roundtrip for $180 when I first met FI.  Now with it being about $40 more, its like "Ok, I guess we aren't going out to do anything...no money!"

So what kinds of songs are you using?  I can only think of a few
1) California Dreamin
2) Hotel California
3) California Girls

Oh!  And this one that I am really bad at rapping to...um, it goes like this..."In the city!  City of Compton!  California..."

Haha

Hoodlims - Oh my gosh...you are too funny!  That's "California Love" by Dr. Dre (I think) and we've already got it on the CD!  But, I did not have "Hotel California" (duh...can't believe I forgot it) nor "California Dreamin."  Thanks for those!

For activities for OOT guests, we are organizing the following:

Wednesday: Deep sea fishing for those in town early, Tea party for the female relatives in town

Thursday:  Welcome dinner at Bali Hai, Drinks in Gaslamp Quarter

Friday: Breakfast at Hash House, Surfing Lessons in PB, Padres Game, Beach Bonfire

Saturday: Guys go golfing & Girls go the spa, Wine Tasting in Temecula with picnic late afternoon lunch, Rehearsal, Rehearsal Dinner Fiesta!

Sunday: Brunch @ Catamaran, Wedding Ceremony & Reception

Monday: Departing Brunch

Some activities are being hosted by my FI and I, but not all of them (we'd be broke).  Our hope is that people will be happy that they've ventured all the way to Cali for our wedding!

We started burning our CDs this weekend.  We've got a kick A$$ CD to give to our guests in their OOT bags!  I'm so excited!  Took a few hours to burn 16 CDs (got 14 more to go), but we were watching a movie, so the time flew!

I ordered cute CD cases from www.blissweddings.com and also purchased small stickers to decorate the CD cases & for some other things (i.e. the closure on our DIY invites).  They were cute too, but I just hope that they match the same colors as my invite papers (i.e. the color of the red pocketfold).

Not being from SD, I have no idea where to get paper.  There is no Kelly Paper here.  Where do I begin?  I need help ladies!  Anyone else in Chicago?  Do the SD'gans have a PaperSource chain?  I'm tempted to go there!

Oooh, so what did you do for your CD song list? I was going to recommend a song by Sprung Monkey that has a line "In sweet home San Diego" but I guess I'm too late. I'm going to do a CD for our RD favors (I think), so I'd love to hear what you did.

Mmmm... can I come to Hash House with you guys? Be sure to get the "O'Hare of the Dog" - it's bacon and a tall-boy can of  Budweiser in a brown paper bag.

I hope things are going well with your dad in his hunt for a new job. I'm thinking good thoughts for you!

Danimal - Thanks for thinking good thoughts.  Nothing yet, but he is working with recruiters & spending $ like it's no issue, so I'm not too worried about taking the wedding money anymore!

Hoodlims - Oprah's favorite store?  I have no idea!!!  But, I need to know!

For our CD (in this order), we've got:

  1. "California" by Phantom Planet (theme from "The O.C.")
  2. "Life is a Highway" by Joe Cocker? (they'll be listening to the CD on the road, so this makes sense, right?)
  3. "Chicago" by Frank Sinatra (we both live here)
  4. "Small Town" by John Mellencamp (FI is from a small Indiana town)
  5. "Hotel California" by the Eagles (thanks Hoodlims)
  6. "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama (I  this song)
  7. "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers (FI shares memories of this song with many people involved in the wedding)
  8. "You & Me & the Bottles Makes 3" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (FI shares memories of this song with some of his GMs)
  9. "California" by Lenny Kravitz
  10. "Mary Jane's Last Dance" by Tom Petty (Indiana town, blah blah)
  11. "Pillar of Davidson" by Live (FI's memories again)
  12. "We Go Together" from "Grease" (My memories with BMs)
  13. "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & The Papas
  14. "Summertime" by DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
  15. "Hearts on Fire" from "Rocky" (FI's memories & my mom loves this movie...in fact, had I been a boy, I would have been named Rocky)
  16. "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" by Righteous Brothers (FI's memories)
  17. "California Love" by 2Pac, Dr. Dre
  18. "Man in Motion" from "St. Elmo's Fire" (FI's memories...he has a lot of them)
  19. "Sweet Home Chicago" by Blues Brothers
  20. "Hail Purdue" by University of Michigan (We both graduated from Purdue)
