Registry

Woah, we spent 6 1/2 hours at South Coast Plaza today doing some registering (and Versace is closing, so I got some waaaaaay expensive jeans for 80% off so I could afford them!) We started at Williams Sonoma, which was a lot of fun. FH and I are big chefs and both love to be in the kitchen cooking. They have this great thing where they open the store early to engaged couples to do their registy. There was food and a gift bag set up for us! And the sales people were so attentive.

We also registered at Macy's and were very excited about the china and stemware we got. A lot of people debate on if they're going to get that stuff, but we entertain a lot, so we will definitely get some use out of it!

But that was a bit long to be at the mall, now my sweetie and I are just pooped!

Oh, and yesterday I went to David's Bridal with some friends. Everyone always says it's hit or miss with what kind of service you get when you're there, and I definitely got a miss. I felt like I was at Costco. Even if I found The Dress there, I don't think I'd buy it because the service just sucked that much.

Hello! I am so excited for you, I just love the Prado and that was my original choice, but it's just not in the budget :( I know what you mean about the ceremony set up, but its so beautiful regardless..... I know you will be happy! We are going with La Valencia which is beautiful as well. I was totally thinking about registering at WillamSonoma too!

If you register with WS, definitely sign up to do the morning registry thing. Free donuts! Seriously, what more could you ask for! Well, maybe a more affordable espresso machine.

I was just looking on the Prado restaurant site:
http://www.cohnrestaurants.com/cohn/pradobalboa/index.html

and I found out that they have cooking classes there! http://www.cohnrestaurants.com/cohn/balboawinefood/cookingfr ame.html

What a fun date for FH and I to try sometime! I'll have to post about this on our Prado brides topic!

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed lately. When Justin and I first started talking about getting married, I told him that I was fine with waiting until after I graduated from grad school (thought it was good to take the pressure off) because I didn't want to be working full time, planning a wedding, and taking classes at the same time. Well, he proposed before my last semester. I'm so happy that we're engaged, and I'm loving all of the wedding stuff, I always have a hard time saying "no" to adding additional things in my life, and with a wedding 7 months, 3 weeks and 2 days away, there's not a lot I can say "no" to. There's work, school, wedding planning, we're redoing the bathroom (need a tile guy! It's been too long that I've been showering in the gym!), plus I'm on a huge work-out kick - I got a personal trainer in December before Justin proposed to get all buff for ski season because I wasn't in good enough shape to tackle the mountain the way I wanted to last season. Getting in shape for the wedding is an added bonus. Plus it's so hard to do the essentials like grocery shopping, dry cleaning, doctors appointments and hair cuts in between! I'm taking my kitty to the vet today. She is old and her kidneys are starting to fail her, and I am so so upset over it. She is like a daughter to me, and I hate that she is losing weight and not feeling well.

I just got through reading Katie's journal, and I'm inspired. So here's the wedding stuff I have going on.
  • Teeth bleaching - going to my dentist on Thursday to pick up my stuff. He has a really great deal for brides, so if you're up near Costa Mesa, PM me and I'll let you know all about him.
  • Need to book OOT hotel rooms.
  • Next week we are going down to SD to do everything we can fit while Justin is in town.
    • Meeting with ring designer to get appraisal of ring and discuss having her do wedding bands. My ring isn't circular, it's kinda flat on the bottom, so I think it would work best if they were the same shape.
    • Meet with Encore Video
    • Meet with Studio Flora
    • Meet with DJ Mike Hogan
    • Take Engagement photos (what am I going to wear?!?!)
    • Meet wtih Peggi Walker at Metro Floral. My date twin from the Prado is using her, and I would love it if we could work something out.
    • Hopefully go look at invitations if there's time. I want to get a monogram designed for us that will be the theme, and I'd like to figure out how to get that done pretty early on so I can use it on the STDs and our web page.
  • I sent flowers to all my OOT BMs to ask them to be in the wedding party, I want to give them personally to my two SD BMs that weekend we're down there, so we're going to have to find some time to hang out.
Done so far:
  • Reception site: The Prado
  • Photographer: Joe Stein from Studio Paris
  • Officiant: Fr. Menees from Grace Lutheran Church. He was the minister at my highschool, so I was happy that I was able to track him down.
  • Looked at a bunch of dresses
  • Bought enough wedding magazines to clutter the appartment and make it hard to find the cat.
  • Registry: Macy's, Williams Sonoma and Home Depot
  • Honeymoon is booked: Tahiti, Rangiroa and Moorea

Hey Danimal,

I saw you were from the LBC so I thought I'd stop by and say hi!  I live there too!  And right now I'm temping downtown in City Hall.

Looks like you have a lot going on!  You really do have a lot on your plate planning your wedding and finishing grad school.  Just remember to take care of yourself!!

I had a year from the worst of times (my parents announced their divorce, we moved across the country, and my grandfather died) to the best of times (we got married, DH finished his thesis).  I had to schedule back massages to relieve the stress.  The honeymoon we had, btw, was so relaxing; it was just what we needed.

Oh and btw, my DH went to Ohio State, and I worked there for a couple years, too.
There are actually quite a few Michigan folks on this board, too-- brouhaha63 and littlegiraffe come to mind.  Good luck with your planning!

Hi Kitty! You are honestly the nicest Buckeye I have ever met. Normally they are just mean to me, but I tend to do a bit of provoking! :) I work in the World Trade Center downtown, so PM me if you want to meet for lunch sometime!

I hear you on needing a break to relieve stress. FH and I are going up to Tahoe a week from Thursday (the same trip we met on two years ago) and that will be very good for us. But FH found out he is definitely leaving for Seattle on Monday, which is our 2-year anniversary, so I am sad.

Bridal Bazaar
Wow! What an overwhelming experience! We walked 1.8 miles (I wore my pedometer) and picked up 12.5 pounds of swag. We were really going to look for videographers, DJs, and anything else that caught our eye. I was very excited to see two photo-booth guys there because Justin and I really wanted to do that instead of a guestbook.

Here is a pic of Justin and I - I thought the stickers were cute, he thought they were cheezy, so I made him take a picture with me!

I was very excited to chat with Joe Stein from Studio Paris. He is our photographer, and he's really nice and I got to ask him a few questions without feeling like a nuisance.

I was also psyched to see Flour Power there. I thought their cakes were definitely the prettiest, which is important because this is Justin's big item (His mom used to bake wedding cakes for friends, and he always helped, so he loves baking and always makes me yummy stuff!) Here are cake pics from them:

So here are some flowers that I liked. I definitely want white peoneys for my bouquet, and white flowers in my centerpieces but I'm not sure what to do for BMs bouquets. I feel like they shouldn't be white. My colors are navy blue, white, and silver (girls in silver dresses... a dark silver more than a white silver).

Blue flowers!

As for these centerpieces, I'd want to fill them with white flowers. Justin likes the clear vase look, I like the silver, because that's one of our colors. Tablecloths will be navy with white underlays. What do you ladies think?

That's about all I have to post about now. I have to go through all the videographers DVDs this week... in addition to a dermatologist appointment, haircut, manicure, eyebrow wax, working out, and homework. Eeesh! I was due for all that stuff anyway, but let it all pile up this week since our e-pics are this weekend. Hopefully it will make everything look really good.

And I will  leave you with this... guys aren't so tough and can't handle the crazy bridal bazaar wedding stuff!

Sorry it took so long to finally post. I can't imagine juggling all this stuff at the same time

Your experience with the Bridal Bazaar was too too funny! I love the pic of Justin. My FI was more pumped when we left than going (reminded him something of the doctor's office I think I heard him say).

I love your colors too, mine are blues with yellow. Finding pretty blue flowers is such a challenge. (Personally I didn't like the "blue" roses - I would go with one of the sterling varieties for some simple silver accents.) There were some amazing blues though at the show.

Keep up the fun of journaling!
