If you understand why she stepped down I would do something. I would do something different than the BMs, but more than - say the guest book person or reader. Make sure you put an extra special note in it to thank her for the courtesy, and not just abandoning her post without giving you any warning.
I had the same problem with my MOH, she had to step down because of her daughter. I will definately send her something even though she won't be able to attend at all.
That is just my HUMBLE opinion.

Wow! I've been away from BI for far too long! I was up in Seattle
visiting Justin all last week (and working with a subcontractor up
there, so the trip was free!) so I have been very busy. It was a rough
week because Justin is living/working in Everett and I was working in
Auburn, which is an hour and a half drive if you wake up at 5am to beat
the traffic. I was pooped, and we were sharing Justin's twin bed, so I
wasn't getting much sleep. But Justin was super sweet and we were
supposed to meet in the city for dinner on Friday night, and he got us
a super fancy suite at a really nice hotel, it was so thoughtful of
him! And definitely too much money! We went ring shopping in the city
when we were there, and we found the COOLEST wedding ring for my FH. It
was a platnum band that had a titanium band sandwiched in the middle
(make sense?) and then it had black diamonds dotted around in the
platinum. It was so cool, but I had no idea how rare/expensive black
diamonds are. $4000! I'll have to do some research to see if I can find
something similar for him that's not so much.
As for wedding stuff, this weekend was supposed to be the big BM
weekend since my MOH was supposed to come in from Chicago and we could
look at dresses and stuff, but now that's all up in the air. Her
grandfather passed away this past weekend, and they were really close, so we're not sure when she's going to come into town.
Got my STD cards, just need to figure out printing them and putting
them all together. I wish Justin would get me his guest list stuff! Why
do grooms always have problems with this?
I picked Paul as my florist, and I think we're going to go with Joyful Spirits for our music.
Here's a "mini" to-do-list:
To Do List
- Find
wedding night accommodations -- The W or there is Hotel Solamar we want to look at.
- Finalize guest list with Mom and Justin's fam
- Find out about pre-marital counsiling
Upcoming Appointments:
- 3/18 Trunk show with MOH, BM Dresses at Mon Amie
Vendor Update
- Florist: BOOKED
- Dress Pressing
- BM Dresses: Will do when MOH gets here
- Planner: My mom is looking for one
- Espresso Bar: Need to coordinate with the Prado
- Ceremony Music: Got a quote
- Will likely be Joyful Spirits
- Transportation:
- Stationary:
- Received STD cards, need to print, get pictures, and assemble.
- Once I have my monogram designed need to get pocket protectors for escort cards
- Need: Invites, menus, drink menus, escort cards, TY notes, programs, favor cards printed with info about donation
- Hair & Makeup
- Photobooth
- BP Presents: Want
to do surfing party, but I don't know that everyone will go for it
(some may be embarassed to be photographed in their swimsuits, not good
swimmers, etc.)
-
Cake - Schedule tasting for after Easter - what was I thinking giving up chocolate for Lent?
-
Florist
-
Dress, etc
-
Attire
-
Rings
-
Transportation
- Look into more for trolley/shuttle. Trolley can't take guests back after midnight (does it turn into a pumpkin?)
-
Rehearsal Dinner
-
Showers
-
BM Events
-
OOT Gifts
-
BP/Parent Gifts

Despite all the travel and those darned twin beds, it is so nice you got to see the boy!
Do you have a photo of the ring? I'd love to see the black diamonds in action.
I just noticed you are thinking about surf lessons ... I hosted a surf lesson for some out of town friends once in Mission Beach, the teachers were great and we all wore their wetsuits (no bathing suit issues!). I can research the name of the company, if you're interested.

Glad you were able to spend time with Justin! What are you writing in
those BM newsletters?

kaydd - Yes, I'd love to know the information of the company you used.
That's a good point about the wetsuits too. They're unflattering on
everyone, right?
hoodlims - So my first bridesmaid newsletter was six pages long. I put
in the article from the Knot about what a bridesmaid's responsibilities
are, then I made some of my own comments about what I really need from
them (make sure my mom and dad are nowhere near each other, just relax
and have fun and kiss cute boys!). I gave them a list of all the web
pages I frequent for information incase they are looking for some, and
I put in a little blur about each bridesmaid and their picture and
contact information. There are nine of them, so that's why it took so
many pages! Plus I just put in a few important dates.
Justin has the picture of the ring with the black diamonds, but he is
going to bring it down with him the day after tomorrow when he comes to
visit again! Yay! I got tickets to the NCAA tourney at SDSU for him
since his Illini are playing, and he is so excited! Plus it's St.
Patty's day this weekend, and one of our GM's last weekend in town
before he moves, so there is a lot of fun stuff going on this weekend.
As for wedding-related stuff, my mom finally found us a coordinator
that she knows through a committee she is on (Jill Pacino, I will post
her web page when I get it), and Saks sent me a swatch of my dress
fabric without me having to ask for it, so I was super excited last
night!

Yay! Today is our negative six month anniversary! We are coming down to
San Diego tonite for the NCAA tourney, so that should be A LOT of fun.
Have some new wedding updates:
- Wedding night acommodations: Hotel Solamar
- Month-of coordinator: Jill Pancio from Simply Exquisite Weddings & Events
- Our cake: We want it to look like this, but with a monogram cake
topper instead of the bow, and no writing on the sides. Just very plain
and simple. We might bedazzle the ribbon a little bit.

My journal is here up to three months before the wedding. The wedding was gorgeous, the marriage was a colossal mess. I even renewed my vows.
I'm still best friends with many women I met on here years ago, and I'm so thankful for this site. Dating a nice guy now who isn't a narcissistic cheater, so maybe I'll be back one day.
In the mean time, if you need a Day of Coordinator or a Wedding Officiant - I am available! (It's my side gig).
