Yeah, we were going to try and plan a more ambitious trip to Europe, but we decided to still go big, but not as big and save ourselves some cash and go to Hawaii. I'm excited about it. I'm going to talk to my aunt who has family there and see what she thinks, but I think we may skip Oahi this time, though I definitely haven't made up my mind yet!

We went to Kauai for our HM & it was great :) We stayed in a timehare as well (Embassy Suites). I have a ton of Kauai travel books I can lend you just say the word!

FYI when you look for time share availability don't stay in princeville it is waaaaay far from civililization & you end up driving to the other end of the island for most activities. And believe it or not, the one that was just a blast was the AVT tour jus SO much fun!

Anyway let me know if you need any other info :)

I'm spoiled....DH's uncle owns a condo in Princeville, Kauai and family members can use it whenever they want.  We've been twice (a week each time) and it is my most favorite place in the whole world.  It's the only island I've been to so I may be biased, but the sheer beauty of the island is incredible.  You can drive around the whole island in under an hour so it's so easy to do everything you want to do on the island itself.

The North Shore tends to be very calm and relaxing.  Hanalei is a great little town.  The South shore is more touristy, attracts more surfers.  It has great beaches, more shopping, more touristy attractions (like the blow hole).  Lihue is fun too, I love the beach at the Marriott.  There are lots of different kayaking tours if you are in to that.  Kevin and I are big hikers, which is a plus on the island because there are soooooo many waterfall you can hike to.  In fact, I'm dying to do the full Kalalau trail (11 miles along the Na Pali coast) next time we go.

Anyways, I could go on forever.    Let me know if you want to know about any specifics!

eta - ps, I have tons of pics if you want to see anything

SDGrrrl- I'll definitely take you up on those tourbooks as the time draws a bit closer.

LindsRose81 - Wow... I would love to have a condo at our disposal. Thanks for the advice.

I'm going to go through the timeshare options on Kauai, Maui and the big Island today and see what we will be able to swap for and I'll keep you all posted on what we decide!

Thanks for all the help and tips!

man that drive to hanalei is beautiful! Also the BEST plate lunch on all the islands is there! (Hanalei Mixed Plate)

How could I forget my favorite thing about Kauai- THE CHICKENS! The story goes that after hurricane Iniki all the coops were destroyed & the chickens went free & now the are everywhere. The shopping mall has roosters & chickens running around the parking lot!

Here's my little buddies:

And their buddies the wild pigs (I wanted to take the spotted one home SO bad!)

And a view of the poi fields on the way to hanalei

Hi Kim,

Chris and I stopped at every island on the cruise we did for our HM, and Maui and Kauai  were by far our two favorite islands!  Kauai is absolutely beautiful. We took a litle boat cruise thing down the Wailua River to a Fern Grotto where there is this amazing cave.  It was one of the highlights of our trip.  It is a very relaxing place to go. On Maui there is soooo much to do, and there is a fun little town called Lahaina that we can't wait to go back to and eat!

They are both absolutely wonderful so I know whichever you choose you'll be happy.  I'm so excited for you and Steve!

Chris and I were close to going all out and booking a trip to Europe for my graduation/our first anniversary!  But like you, we really want to save money  (and not have to worry about money when we do go to Europe) so we decided to just book an all inclusive in Puerto Vallarta, just to get away.  It's for just a week, but was cheap and will hopefully be relaxing!

I miss you!

I miss you too... so much!

I think we're going to try and do Kauai and Hawaii. We'll stay in Kauai the majority of the time and try to island hop for a few days to Hawaii. I'll come back for tips once we've got something booked for accomodations!

Did anyone hear about the floods in Kauai? I have a friend who lives
there, and she sent me some pretty awful pictures. Some of the hotels
have been flooded, and several people are missing. It is very sad to see.
Finally married after almost 10 years together!!!! We are so happy!!!!!!!!
