Question for the married OV brides -- did you do all of your formal pics at the Oceanview?  Did they turn out good?  Since our ceremony is in Hillcrest, I'm debating whether we should swing by Balboa Park on our way to OV to have pics done there.  What is your opinion on that?  I'm thinking we'll do as many pre-ceremony pics as we can at Balboa, but what should we do after the ceremony?

We did our formal pictures at the church, Cabrillo Monument (gives a great view of San Diego Skyline and I like the lighthouse up there), and my school where I got my MBA - Point Loma Nazarene University (beautiful views of the ocean and cliffs).  We had plenty of pictures of oceanview from our reception that I did not want to have the formals there too.

ooh cabrillo!  How long does it take to get from there to Oceanview?  It's only like 10 minutes right?

It is about 10 minutes with lights.  It is right up the hill from OV.  You can get a nice view of the city, bay and ocean.  The lighthouse makes for a really nice background, too.  There is a $5 (I think) charge per car but our limo bus (Top Dog Limo Bus) was able to get in with no charge.

That is awesome!  Has anyone heard anything about the menu changes?  I heard they were updating the menu in October and didnt get to go to the tasting b/c I was out of town.  Also, does anyone know the specifics on the deck and how it is coming along?

Thanks!

I'm upset with OV right now because I paid my final balance on Saturday. It was the FINAL price, including everything (service charge, etc) and they managed to charge my card 20% extra. It's my debit card too and so it came directly out of my account. I only authorized the original amount and they took out the rest w/o my consent. That really makes me mad!

Also, that happened to another bride on here, which makes me feel that this may be their normal practice?

They give the 20% back right? It's just a "hold fee" or something like that right? I just want to know before I give them my card info.

We did all our pictures there, but we also had our ceremony on the lawn at OV, so it didn't make sense to go elsewhere for pictures.  If you have the time to do pre-ceremony pics at Balboa I say go for it, but also do some at OV.  The backdrops there are pretty damn amazing too.

I  have no idea if they will give it back. They will not take responsibility for the charge, saying they have a receipt for the original amount. They blamed it on my credit union saying that, "Since they saw it was a resturant or catering, they added a 20% tip." Whatever. My credit union denied this... so I don't know what is going to happen. All I know is that I'm missing a large amount of money out of my bank account and it is really making me mad.
