Hey ladies...
We need to do 2 rounds of invites because... long story short, we have way too many people. How does that work? Is it too early to request RSVPs from the 1st round 6 weeks early? I just worry that if I request it only 4 weeks early, we will have to spend a few days hunting down the people who lag (most of our families), so that the 2nd run would only be able to go out a month before the wedding. I know some people will reply early, but I'm expecting most to wait till last minute. With the final count due 2 weeks before the wedding, this is really pushing it. If I do that, do I have to have two sets of RSVPs printed (1st string reply date, 2nd string reply date), or would it be tacky to have all my RSVPs printed with a blank line where I could just wirte in the date? Also, I was going to include a seperate card w/ our website info for directions, registration, etc. How do I word that?

wow you like making it complicated!! hehe No i dont think 6 weeks is too early. hey its your decision, thats how I see it. I think that you should get two different rsvp date printed and not hand written but then again its up to you. thats just my $0.02

Haha, thanks blublusher. Sorry, I just spoke to my day-of coordinator today and she's like "You have 4 months to go... and you don't have invites?!?" so now I'm a little panicked.

Thanks MrsSilverios - now I am panicking! I don't even know what I want yet. There are just too many different ideas, and I am not in love with any one.....

I would say 2 different cards with different dates. It should be easy if you make them however if your buying I don't know.  Also as No's come in send out other invites. People might have vacations, etc planned that they know that they cannot come. You would probably be surprised.

I will probably be in the same boat as happybridesd; as we have to invite a cousin of FI that I have never met nor he ever sees and some of my fam that I was never invited to their weddings nor do I see them. But if I don't count them they might just "show up" like they did for my bros wedding.

It sucks cause our B list are our friends that we would prefer to have there rather than people/family that we have to invite.

With the timing of your invites, I would just make sure that you know what you want. If you order your invites and something is wrong with them then you'll be in a hurry to get them fixed. If you are doing them yourself, you'll need the time to make them. Plus if you plan on getting a respond 6 weeks in advance them be sure you give them to guests in time to make their plans to see if they can come. Thats means you'll have to send them at lest 2 months in advance!
