I am in desperate need of a mani/pedi, and would love recommendations for a good place in the Mission Valley area.  I tried Happy Nails in Fashion Valley Mall a few months ago and was not happy with them.

Try http://www.prestigenailsandspa.com/ - Prestige Nails
in Mission Valley, next to the Mikasa store. I have gone there a
bunch of time (even with my bridal party before the wedding) and
they have always done a good job. Just be sure to bring cash or a
check because they don't take credit cards and they have an ATM in
the store but the fees are high on it. Hope that helps!

I second Prestige  - my mom goes to someone there by the name of Annie. I've been to her as well when I've come to visit (but it's been a while - and not sure last time my mom's been in either but might as well call to ask if she's still there!). Annie does an awesome pedicure and really does not push the "flower" on you either.  Also a few BI brides have gone there for their bridal parties as well and been happy (see above and also steveskimmy, too - my mom actually saw SK and her gals in there on her wedding day, but did not realize it until we talked later!).

I used that same Happy Nails for my wedding couple yrs ago, and the pedi lasted great, but the french mani was worthless (and got real sticky later - whatever they used did not jive with my beachy HM locale I guess ). You can read my vendor report for the details, but I was not too keen on them after that visit myself either, and had been a longtime customer. I wonder if you had the same probs - if so you're not alone and just wanted to let ya know.

Have fun!

I had a good pedicure at the Happy Nails at Fashion Valley last week- sorry your's wasn't great. My friend was there with me and her's wasn't great, though, so I may have just gotten someone good. I have heard good things about the nail place in the Ikea/Costco center in Mission Valley- can't remember the name.

Whatever you do don't go to the nail place in Mission Valley Mall.  They take credit cards and run them through as "ATM" and there was like a $5 'surcharge' added to my card without my consent.  They were really rude too.  Sorry I don't have any recco's for the area.  I have some for Point Loma if needed!

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's called Le Nails.  They have 2 locations in MV, but I actually prefer the one in the plaza w/ Longs Drugs, closer to the 163 on Friars.  It's a little less busy, and they do a great job.  Here's the #: 619-692-1512.

Thanks, ladies!  I'll give Prestige a try -- it's pretty close to me.  Do you know if an appointment is necessary for just one person?
