For the coulples who are paying for their entire wedding themselves without any help from any one (or extremely little help), how are you gals funding it all? (if you dont mind me asking) Are you all just saving every last penny and paying for it all in cash? Did you just start to save as soon as you got engaged? Are you just not going to worry about it and just use credit cards? Did you already have most of it saved on your own before you got engaged? How much are your estimated budgets that you two are saving for?

We are paying for the majority ourselves.  We have been doing some hard core saving.  I got back a big tax return that we'll be using towards the wedding.  I own a condo and we can use a little bit of the equity if we have too.  Our goal is to do it without putting any on credit or using the equity.  We have a lot saved so far but still have a ways to go.  Oh, I also got a part time job serving to help save more.

Oh, it also helps a little bit that not all the payments are due at the same time.  A lot of them are due right around the time of the wedding or a couple weeks before, but 50% is due to the caterer on April 1st and the balance to the Thursday club is due on May 1st.  So those are two big expenses that will be paid for a little bit sooner.

Well we don't want to use any credit, but doing it that way is making me work a lot harder which i guess is worth it but them again i'm thinking maybe we should just use a credit card or two and not stress as much and enjoy more.  I just wondering how everyone else is doing it. We think that we can have a 15k budget on cash...but i'm not absolutely positive. Just want to see what everyone else is doing.

Tarin and I are paying for our own wedding.  We're coming in just under $15K and we're paying all cash.  Tarins job is 100% commission and mine is base + commission, so we've budgeted to pay our household bills with my base pay and Tarins pay and then everything I got paid in commissions goes towards the wedding.

I am paying for the wedding by myself (FI is in grad school but I have a
job). For me, it hasn't been a problem YET because our wedding is still a
ways away, so I can save from every paycheck. I don't ever charge more
than I can actually pay because I don't want to be in debt forever.
Staggering your payments really helps, because you can wait until your
next paycheck comes in. I am also refusing to pay for the rehearsal
dinner, but that is OK because that is the one thing that FI's parents
offered to pay. I am also not going to pay for the honeymoon (making it
FI's job) but I do have a lot of miles saved up from opening a credit card
with United Airlines. I am also living at home which helps on the
expenses because whatever I make I can put towards the wedding. I have
also opened up a CD. Our estimated budget on the high end is 20k...I
hope we can get under this! I would love to do it for 15k...and I hope that
FI will get a job before our wedding that will help pick up the rest!

Paying for ours on our own! Both sets of our parents are retired and are on a limited income, so although they offered to help, we didn't feel right accepting when we both have jobs. We've been saving for months now and cutting corners where we can (having the wedding at his brother's house, bringing in friends to help with serving, etc.). Our estimated budget is 15k, but we're definitely hoping to come in at 13k (for 150 guests). Trying to pay mostly by credit cards b/c the cards that I have offer cashback on purchases. The cashback bonus awards really start adding up on the bigger purchases so we intend on using that $$ towards our honeymoon!
