HI all. Is it considered not polite if you invite girls to your shower but not to the wedding?

Yes. Etiquette states that everyone invited to the shower should be invited to the wedding.  And I am not postive about this one but I think if a shower is thrown for you at work without your input they do not need to be invited to the wedding.  My MOH is throwing me a shower and I am giving her a list of people to invite...they will all be on the guest list for the wedding as well.....Hope that helps!

I agree with bubbles.  There was a time where I wasn't invited to the wedding, but to the shower and it was really weird that everyone was talking about what they were going to wear and such.  I was like, "Uh, not invited."

I just gave my MOH a guest list for my shower and all of them are invited to the wedding.

If you invite someone to a shower you must invite them to your
wedding. Otherwise it implies that they're good enough to give you a
shower gift but not to share your wedding day. As far as I know, the only
exception to this rule is the one bubbles mentioned (showers at work).

Thanks girls. A friend of my mom's and myself wants to throw me one. I can't invite my BMs because they live across country and can't afford to fly out twice. I also dont think it wise to wait till the week before my wedding when they are here. I just dont know who else to invite besides a few close friends here. That is why I was thinking about asking some people from my class but I guess I would have to invite them to the wedding which I wasnt planning to keep it small.

Maybe it could be just a small shower at a tea room or something...it will still be nice!

It's a different story if the girls in your class (who aren't invited to the wedding) decide to throw you a shower themselves --- IMO that's ok.   Another example would be if your co-workers decided to throw you a shower -- they wouldn't necessarily be expecting to be invited to the wedding.
